The grow log for mushroom growers.

Every batch from agar plate to harvest, with its lineage, its contamination history and what needs doing today. Works offline in the grow room.

Free while in early access. Android now, iPhone later. No ads.

The Spora home screen: the next task is to move batch LM-02 to bulk, eight batches are growing, and today's delivery of 4 kg to a restaurant is covered.

From agar plate to restaurant crate.

Agar, liquid culture, grain, bulk and fruiting. Every batch keeps its lineage and generation, even spawn pooled from several parents. Six screens from the app, shown with a sample farm.

Fifty jars, one row.

Jars and bags from the same batch sit together in a row you can open. A full shelf stays readable, and search finds a code or a strain in a second.

The Batches list, grouped by stage. Six jars of lion's mane from one batch are shown as a single row with a progress bar.

Colonisation, logged.

Log how far the mycelium has spread and the picture follows, step by step. Health, the next check and the expected ready date sit on the same page, so one glance tells you where a batch stands.

  • The same jar about half covered in white mycelium.Halfway
  • The same jar fully white and ready to use.Ready

Your week, laid out.

What to inoculate, move, check or harvest, and on which day. Add your own tasks, get one reminder in the morning, and a busy Friday does not cost you a batch.

The Plan tab for week 43: a strip of days along the top and the tasks for Friday, like chop the straw and shake the grain, each with a Done button.

Labels that scan back.

Print small QR labels on a Bluetooth label printer, or export a PDF for any printer. Scan a label and the jar opens.

Deliveries, covered.

Orders from your restaurants, set against what is ready in the cold room. You see what is short before the day comes.

Selling a few boxes at a market? It works the same.

Deliveries for week 43: lion's mane, king oyster and blue oyster each marked covered, then Friday's and Saturday's restaurant orders.

Made for people who read a plate.

The records a mycologist wants, written so a first-year grower can follow them.

Lineage and generations
Every batch knows its parents, from the agar plate through liquid culture and grain to bulk and fruiting, as a family tree. It carries the generation (G1, G2 and on) and how many times the agar has been passaged, and warns you before you use up the last living culture of a strain.
Contamination, with the cause
Log it with a photo, the type and the likely cause. A built-in guide helps you tell cobweb from healthy mycelium, and trichoderma from bacteria or yeast, before you throw out a jar that was fine.
Sterilisation runs
Minutes at pressure, the pressure, the temperature, what went in and how many containers. Each run is linked to its batches, so a bad run is traceable to every jar that came out of it.
Where losses come from
Losses broken down by cause, by spawn source, by sterilisation run, by recipe, and by room and shelf. The pattern shows up before the season is over.
Yields per flush
Each harvest is logged per flush with its yield and biological efficiency, so strains, recipes and shelves can be compared on numbers rather than memory.
Shelf checks
Walk the shelves and mark a whole shelf as fine in one tap. You only stop at the jar that is not.
Works without signal
Every record is kept on the phone first. Basements and grow tents are fine. It syncs when you are back online.
Your records stay yours
Export everything to Excel or a full backup file whenever you like, and delete your account from inside the app.
What it is not
Spora is a grow log, not a lab LIMS: there is no freezer or cryo inventory yet. If that is what you are missing, tell us.

Built on a working mushroom farm.

Spora is made by the people who run a small gourmet mushroom farm in Oslo. Lion's mane, king oyster and blue oyster go out to restaurants every week, and this is the log we keep.

Every screen is something we do ourselves: the Monday inoculation, the Thursday check, the Friday delivery. When a jar turns green, we log it and the cause. When a chef calls, we look at the cold room on the phone.

Try it while it's new.

A small group of growers is using Spora before it opens on Google Play. It's free while we test, from a shelf of jars to a full grow room.

Questions

Does it work offline?

Yes. Everything is kept on the phone first, so you can log, scan and check in a basement or a grow tent with no signal. When you are back online and signed in, it syncs to the cloud and to your other devices.

Who owns my records?

You do. Settings holds an export to Excel and a full backup file, and you can take either whenever you like. We never sell data, show ads or track you across other apps.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, from inside the app under Settings, and it takes effect straight away. If you cannot open the app, email us and we delete it within 30 days. What gets removed.

What does it cost?

Nothing while in early access. There will always be a free plan; paid plans for bigger farms come later, and you will hear about them before anything changes. Your data stays exportable either way.

When is it coming to iPhone?

It is being built. Send a short email with the subject "Spora iPhone" and you will hear from us the day it is on the App Store. Nothing else, and no list to leave.

Which languages?

English, Norwegian and Polish. The app follows your phone's language, and you can change it in Settings.

Which label printers?

Small Bluetooth label printers of the Phomemo kind, down to 30 by 20 millimetres, straight from the phone. For any other printer, export a PDF sheet.

Is it only for farms?

No. A tent with six jars gets the same lineage, contamination log and weekly plan as a grow room with six hundred. The orders and cold-room parts only matter once you sell.

Keep the log on your phone.

Write a line about what you grow and we will send the invite.
